Excell and File opening

I have a client who got a new machine. The client has told me that when she tries to open a file in excell she wants to be able to type in the last numbers (The files have purchase order numbers at the end of the file name) of the file name and have it come up. The client has told me this worked on her old machine but not on the new. I have personally never seen anything that would indicate this to be possible but if anyone knows of a way to do this please let me know, thanks.
