Exchance account deletion

By gkane ·
Is there a way to delete an exchange email account that contains distibution lists from other exchange servers without having to run to those exchange servers and hand removing the user from the distribution lists? It is important that the user comes off those lists. I have no problem removing the user from distro lists as long as the user and the list reside on the same server, but when they don't - I get errors and have to hand remove the user.

I'm assuming you're using Exchange 5.5 or earlier. Unfortunately you do have to go to each server and modify the distribution lists on that server. Exchange has no way of knowing which distibution lists a given account may have been added to outside of the server on which the account existed.

If you are the administrator for these other servers, you should be able to setup your Exchange Administrator Program to also administer these other servers. That way, at least you shouldn't have to physically go to the other servers.

Thank you. I don't have to physically goto the servers - but it's a pain to run to all the servers in our enterprise because the distro list resides there - yes I am using 5.5, does updated versions include such capability - or is this one of those dreams that just won't become reality? Thank you again.
