Exchange 2000 permissions

Is your Exchange Server setup to only allow Authenticated users to use the smtp connector you are trying to use to route email outside of your organization?

You also might want to check to see if you have SSL setup on the SMTP connector.

I'mthinking that the SMTP connector is what is causing you your grief. I'd recommend creating a new one, and then removing the one that is causing the problem.

Good luck.
