I just installed our 1st Exchange Server (2003) without any experience with Exchange prior to this (we used WorkGroup Mail from Softalk, Inc.).
I have 2 issues that I am working on.
(1) We have 2 registered domains with active MX records for them. We can send & receive email from those MX domains without any problems. When I setup our Exchange server, I named the domain for it (name.domain.local). We are able to send out of the .local domain however, we cannot receive email to it. My intention was to have this .local an In-house email account but the boss man has since decided he wants to use it for outbound and inbound email.
(2) I have activated RPC over HTTP services on the server so I can allow users to access their email from home using Outlook 2003. I have followed 3 different guides on setting the services up on the server, but I don’t believe I have all that I need in place to make it work. I have a hardware firewall w/vpn in place that they currently get their email through. I got an SSL certificate for the Exchange server but I am still not getting a connection when I try to connect non-vpn from home. It tries to connect but does not.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
