Exchange 5.5 Error after Harware Upgrade

by randal . Updated 25 years ago

I am trying to upgrade the hardware of my exchange server.

The current server has been configured to work through a firewall according to MS article Q155831, we support POP3, SMTP and Exchange clients through the firewall, in order for us to do this the following was added to the registry:

In : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\CurrentContrlolSet\Services\MSExchangeDS\Parameters, the following entry was added TCP/IP port REG_DWORD data: Decimal 1225

In : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\CurrentContrlolSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem, the following entry was added TCP/IP port REG_DWORD data: Decimal 1226

The upgrade procedure followed was

1. Offline backup of the old server
2. Point in time restore on the new installation.

After reinstalling the IMS connector checking it’s properties gives me the foloowing:
Extension ‘SMTP’ could not be loaded.

An error occurred during file replication. Unable to find extension .DLL file with the correct version number. To view details of the error, see the application event log in the Windows NT event viewer on the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.

Microsoft Exchange Administrator
ID no c1030ad1

In the event viewer the following error is displayed:

Event ID: 2037
Source: MSExchangeSA
Type:Error
Category: General

Description:

The file version of “\add-ins\SMTP\I386\imcadmin.dll” installed on the local server is not current. Unable to locate the correct version on any sever in the site.
I have compared the file referred to in the error log with the one on the previous installation and they are identical, i.e. same version.

Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
