Exchange 5.5

Hi,

I new to Exchange 5.5 and hoping someone can provide me some assistance on it. Well, my company used standard lastname@company.com as the email address. When a user left, my predessesor delete NT account but not the mailbox. Well there are many unused mailbox that I would like to back up and delete it and I don’t know how. I ran into an issue where I need to create an account for a new hire who has the same lastname as someone who had left and it prevent me to create it unless I change the method to put the first initial or have a number behind it.

Would be really appreciate it if someone can help me here.
