We run a mixed platform environment of WinNT, Win9x, and various Macs. I am having problems making Outlook 8.2.2 work on our G4 machines. It works fine on our older Macs and Starmax clones but certain emails from the internal Windows clients only return an “Exceeded maximum number of characters” error even if the email is only one sentence long. This happens intermitently and only on the G4’s. AppleTalk is active on our network for printing purposes but Outlook is set to use TCP/IP. Macs and G4’s are used for production of newspapers and magazines and run Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat. Some G4 machines take very long just to open a new mail message window, or navigate from the Inbox to other folders within Outlook. In some cases it takes a minute to switch folders. I have asked the opinion of several Apple consultants to no effect. Any ideas will be appreciated.
