I have an XP machine that I want to use as a backup server. Is there any backup software available that I can install on XP and perform remote backups of an Exchange server?

Never installed something like this on XP so it is a hard question. Most of the applications I have used needed to be installed on the server or have a client installed there. Perhaps you could download a trial of Backup Exec 10d and see how it goes on XP?
It all depends on the level and options you are looking for in a backup solution.
At the most basic level you can use Backup (NTBackup as it was) on the Exchange Server and the XP purely as a remote destination for the backup file.
Really need to know more about what you are after here!
I'm running a small business server 2003 domain controller with exchange 2003. i currently have backup exec 10d installed on that box and it works well, but the machine itself is overloaded. so i wanted to offload a bunch of stuff onto extra xp machines we had lying around until we get the funding to do a "real" upgrade. basically i need a way to backup exchange with single instance options. this might just be something i have to leave on the server.
