Exchange Distribution List Problem

By buckleydave ·
One of our users has created a distribution list in Outlook. They are unable to send any mail to the list addressees. However, when we seperate the list into 2 individual lists there are no issues. Any ideas what causes this? Suggestions greatly appreciated.

This may have the answer that you are looking for but as you didn't specify which version of Exchange you are using it gets a bit hard to give a better answer.

To add to Hal's list, what version of Outlook and Windows is it?

Is the DL local or in AD?

How many addresses are in the list?

Personal Distribution Lists have a limit (not sure of the threshold) and splitting them into separate distro lists may help. Ex: If you have a list called Monthly Update Recipients and you have a West Coast, an East Coast, and a Europe distro lists and they are all need to receive the Monthly updates, you can nest the lists.
You should also upgrade to SP2 unless you have some software that isn't compatible.
