Exchange , DNS and routing

By harrydavidson ·
I just recieved my static IP at home.I placed that on my Linksys router and gave my exchange server a ip. I setup IP forwarding on the router to direct well known ports to .2.
Now, in the DNS when I create a new exchange mx record i just pointed it to the host dns record. I can send out mail but cannot recieve any. Am I missing something in the DNS?

To receive your mails correctly, your new mx-records should point to your new static ip, which will then forward mails to ur internal ip as you have configured it to do so.

You will not receive any e-mail unless the ISP that hosts your e-mail domain sets thier MX record to forward the mail to your exchange server.

(they would sent it to your external IP address and you need to have the router port forward port 25 smtp to your exchange server computer.)
