Exchange Internet Mail Connector

By jez ·
I have been running Microsoft Exchange for years now and we've noticed that our server is getting rather full. Further investigation reveals that there is a large amount of data in the \imcdata directory. This may sound really stupid but can I delete any of these files or are they the source of the messages?

If I can't can anyone tell me how to free up some space on my server.

Thanks

IMC Data Directory

by mgraham In reply to Exchange Internet Mail Co ...

You can delete files in the IMCdata /IN/ARCHIVE and /OUT/ARCHIVE directory's if your company's HR policies allow it. These 2 directory store copies of all E-mail incoming and outgoing throughout your organization. You can turn this feature off or limit it by adjusting the properties with the IMC connector in Exchange. If you don't make this adjustment (and are indeed archiving all the messages) which is what I believe is happening in your case, it will continue to place copies of new messages in those directory's for anything that was deleted previously.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.
