    Exchange Messenger problems

    Hi people,

    in my network, i have almost every machine accesing Exchange instant messaging, using the client 4.6.0079, that works fine on w2000 and windows98, but i have 2 machines windows95 cant sign in, these have IE5.5 sp2, btw i have 2 ANOTHER MACHINES with win95 that can sign in, if the 4 have same TCP/IP configuration, why 2 cant connect?? also, i see they can sign to the .NET (hotmail account) not exchange account, we have a proxy but msmessenger doesnt require it, works with or without proxy.

    Whe i reinstall msnmess4.6 display you dont have IE 5.0.

    But i have 5.5sp2, please help.

      That is TOOO strange…can you double check that the two non-connecting stations have the correct version? Download it from here (remove any spaces)

      I have had the problems you are experiencing, but only to find out that my workstations were using a slightly different version. You know you have the correct version when you look at Tools|Options Accounts Tab.

      You should have a radio button for Exchange support. Just double check and let me know…we will then go from there.

      1. Install the Winsock 2 update for Win 95x and try instant msg again.
      2. Install Dialup Networking update 1.2 then 1.3 and try again.
      Both of these updates affect the TCP stack of windows 95 I’m hoping the Winsock 2 update will do the trick there was also a socks update for 95 but that came out before Winsock 2.

      Classic software corruption. I would uninstall IE, or reinstall IE.

      ok, i cant reinstall msmsgr 4.6 cause “i dont have 5.0 or later” thats wrong cause i have ie5.5sp2, but i remember when was ie5.0 didnt receive that message.

      Im looking for the dialup update too.

      and im sure, im using the same version, alsoIm using a Messenger Package created by my company, includes wsock2 updates and autoconfiguration too.

      If i try 2 uninstall IE5 displays: “You will need to re-install Microsoft Office” so, i dont like to waste time for that, what do u thinK? will be neccesary to reinstall office too?

      This to me seems your Instant Messaging version is working with IE 5.0 only. You can check if there is a newer version of Instant Messaging for IE5.5.
      You can try to reinstall IE5.0, then Instant Messaging again. Select yes when it prompts for replacing newer files. (this could be a little risky, if you know which file(s) you want to keep, and which one you want to go back).
