Exchange Migration

By jlbpotter ·
I am going to be migrating from an NT4 server running Exchange 5.5 to a 2000 DC running Exchange 2000. Does anyone out there have a few tips as far as what to look out for and any potential problems that may arise? I have been reading a lot on TechNet. Are there any particular articles on TechNet or elsewhere that would be good to read before I do this?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Techrepublic had some past articles on it as well as Windows & .NET magazine. All worth the reading. Technet is good, but doesn't really give one answers or what to look out for with the little nasty problems that always arise when migrating to newer versions of software.

I went thru basically the same process a few months ago.

The upgrade was fairly successful. However, I had several issues afterwards:

1. The permission in Outlook were deleted (rights for users to access calendar, tasks, etc. for other users.

2. When a user went to a calendar, then clicked on File, Open and selected another user's calendar from the most recent list, this did not work. The users had to use File, Open, other user's folder to access each others calendars.
