    Exchange Personal Folders

    Locked

    by wirebendr2 ·

User deletes his personal folder in Exchange, restored the folder from backup tape. Everytime user opens Outlook 97, it asks for a password to open the personal folder when it didn’t have one before. How can I remove this password?

      From outlook, select
      Tools
      Services
then select Personal Folders and then click Properties and then select the Change Password option and set it to blank.

Not too sure why this problem occured in the first place but this should fix it.

I have done the the following steps: Opened Outlook
        Clicked on Tools
        Clicked on Services
        and clicked on Personal Folder
It then prompted me for a password.
Therefore, I can’t get into the properties to change the password.

Try to take ownership of the file before you put it on a profile in order to open it. If this fails then try as pwd the 1234.b It happened to me also when i backed up mine (the backup procedure locks the file). The last chance is to use MDBVIEW.exe from exchange resource kit to open the pst and move all files to a new one without pwd. You can download it from microsoft itself. Be carefull if you are not familiar enough with MAPI connections and functions.

I took ownership of the file and it still failed. Used the password you suggested and it also failed. The MDBVIEW.exe didn’t work either.

Try creating a new PST and then importing every thing from the original pst.
