exchange relaying restrictions

By longennamer ·
I have two servers I'm working with. One is our exchange 5.5 sp4 server, and the other is an ecommerce server. The ecommerce server needs to be able to send confirmation e-mails to customers when they place an order. It is set to send through ourexchange server. On the exchange server I have put the IP address of the ecommerce server in the "Hosts and clients with these IP addresses." But in testing, I've found only internal e-mail addresses will recieved confirmation e-mails, but external e-mail addresses never receive the confirmation e-mails. What am I doing wrong?

Hi.

Have you checked the setup of your Internet Mail Connector to see whether or not it is allowing automatic responses to the Internet?

YOu can get to this by opening the properties of your IMC, go to the Internet Mail Tab, then click the Advanced Options button. Ensure that the 2 option there are unchecked to allow out of office responses, and auto responses to the Internet. These options are both disallowed by default.

Try taking these off, restart the IMC, and let me know how it goes.
Regards.
