Exchange Server 5.5 internet e-mail

How to connect an Exchange Server 5.5 to a Proxy Server (digital Unix Server) inorder to access internet e-mail for Exchange clients? And also how to configure internet e-mail on Exchange Server 5.5 and on Exchange client(Outlook 2000)?
