Exchange Server 5.5 internet e-mail

By mzdump ·
How to connect an Exchange Server 5.5 to a Proxy Server (digital Unix Server) inorder to access internet e-mail for Exchange clients? And also how to configure internet e-mail on Exchange Server 5.5 and on Exchange client(Outlook 2000)?

Exchange Server 5.5 internet e-mail

To configure EX5.5 for internet email, ensure that the The Exchange Internet Connector, usually referred to as IMC or IMS. As the IMC uses DNS it is important to ensure that DNS is configured and working correctly within your organisation and that MX and A records are configured. I'm assuming that there is only 1 exchange server in this scenario, once you have the IMC setup all clients that connect to this server will automatically be able to send smtp mail outbound. To ensure that smtp mail inbound is delivered correctly each mail box will need to have an smtp address entry.

For further info I recommend Managing Microsoft Exchange Server by Paul Robichaux from O'Reilly ISBN 1-56592-545-9
