Exchange Server dial-up

by blerg . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

Howdy group,

My situation: a client has a Microsoft Small Business Server 4.5 setup. Exchange Server is running to provide internal e-mail, but is not connected to the Internet.

The only outside world connection is a 56k modem.

Can I set up Exchange Server to dial out and deliver messages from this domain to an Internet address? I set up the Internet Mail Connector to dial out, and I hear it dial and connect, but it drops the connection after a few seconds, and the outgoing messagesremain in the queue.

The Dial-Up Networking connection I am using is correctly configured, as I can establish it manually and connect to the Internet.

I’m not an Exchange guru, but it seems I should be able to make it dial-on-demand and deliver messages. I’m not trying to get it to accept incoming messages, only to send.

Thanks in advance.
