Exchange Server Login Issue

By bwford ·
I have administrative responsibility for a Windows 2000 Server that has Exchange 2000 running on it. It has wirked perfect for over a year. When folks arrived this morning and opened Outlook to access e-mail etc they were asked for their user ID, Password and Domain. The Echenage server is operational and can be accessed via the Outlook Internet client with the same ID and Password they use from the desktop. I have discussed this with another Admin and we are at a loss as to waht has happened.

Can anyone help?

Have the accounts been locked out? Passwords expired? Have time restrictions been set (see AD Users and computers)?

The answer to all of your questions is no. Users are required to change their passwords every 42 days. But that has been in effect for more than 9 months.

Check authentication under your clients, Used to switch this off to allow multi-profile Outlook on single desktop for multiusers (Don't ask...)

Also would get this with dialin VPN users, where they would somehow cache their VPN domain login, then they got the same message as yourself.

Just some thoughts, maybe this may help you get somewhere...
