I have a Linux email server running on our network. I want the Linux mail server to continue as our email server. When we installed Exchange server for calendar sharing, the Exchange server started “taking over” our email system. Messages sent topeople in house would be sent to the Exchange server and stay there instead of going to the Linux server. I finally found that by changing the SMTP address extension on the Exchange server to a bogus address (instead of ‘user@isionline.net’ it uses’user@isi.com’) that the Linux server then started sending the mail messages.
My problem now is this: we market a software package that integrates with Exchange Server to send email. I want to set it up for demo purposes. Problem is that I can now only send emails to people in the GAL on the Exchange server. It will not send outside emails. It replies with the following message: “Unable to deliver the message due to a recipient problem MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:ISI:NTSERVER1”
I want the Exchange server to be able to send emails to outside addresses through the Linux mail server. To the best of my knowledge I have everything set up correctly, I just keep missing something. How can I get the Exchange server to “route” all outgoing email messages through the Linux mail server?
