exchange VSI folder

By NatCat ·
To cut a long story short, I did an idiotic thing.
I deleted the files in\mailroot\vsi 1\queue folder in an attempt to stop the myriad on antivirus messages on the machine.

But now I realise that I've gotten no mail for monday even though the date on the deleted files is today.

Is there anyway I can find those messages in exchange and rotue them or have I lost them forever ?

Have you checked the recycle bin on the server? Automatically sends deleted items from that folder to it (unless you held Shift while you deleted them)

I did hit shift when I deleted but luckily I had a backup for that day.
To solve the problem I restored the files to a temporary folder, did a virus scan and deleted the 'infected' messages. Then restarted the smtp server in the exchange MMC Server Manager.

Apparently its not a good idea to scan the\mailroot\vsi\ folder(s) because the software will always identify a virus in that folder although there is no threat.
