Exel Formula

By samtitus ·
This is what I would like to do: I would type an amount in col A and in col B it would automatically enter a matching amount. If a matching amount is not found it must give me an error message in col B "No match found".
EG
Col A Col B
R28.77 R18.30
R101.22 R88.39
R57.00 R43.66
R28.87 no match found
R103.80 R89.46
R116.40 no match found

Where is it to get the matching amount from? What constitutes a matching amount because your figures differ between column A & B.

That's just it I don't know how to set up this formula this is exatly what I need to do I have two amounts one is the cost amount and the other an invoice amount. I have about 12 cost amounts which must match to 12 invoice amounts. When the cost amount is entered in Col A it would automatically enter the matching invoice amount in Col B Is there a formula for this?

No remark for answer # 1, or rating.
No additional answers.

You did not mention which sheet colum B was from. For calculations/cross-checks like this I prefer Access.

I see you have changed the status to answered, but what if you entered a formula in Col b so that once you enter a value in Col a it changes in Col b.

Like in C2 "=if(a2=28.77,18.30,"no match found)

You could create a Nested "IF" statement - only problem I think it has a limit to the number of statements you can include - 8 might be the max

If I think of more, i'll pass on
