Experiences when jobhunting?

Here’s a topic that always seems to come up and has been something some of you may have seen me touching on in a couple of threads.

Quite often we hear from IT staff that they feel misunderstood and poorly treated by the people involved in the hiring and “selling” of their skills.

I was just talking to one of our juniors and explaining to her why it’s so important to our company that we recruit within an industry sector that we’ve worked in ourselves, and was interested to see what kind of experiences you guys have had when applying for new positions, both good and bad, whether that’s hiring managers, recruiters, HR teams, entrance exams or whatever.
