Explorer 5.5 Connection Options

By carole ·
I have a laptop that while at the office I am connecting to the Internet through my LAN (ISDN). Under the Exporer "Connections" tab, I have bulleted 'dial whenever a network connection is not present' and I have my default ISP selected. When clicking Explorer, this normally works as it should whether on the network or not. Sporadically, when connected to my LAN, when I click Explorer, it tries to DIAL my ISP, rather than connect through the LAN as it should -- everything else is seeing the LAN just fine. Any Suggestions why Explorer is not seeing the LAN and everything else is?

Explorer 5.5 Connection Options

Hello!

It is a bit difficult to give you a satisfying answer with the information given. You say this happens sporadically, do you log into the LAN with different user accounts/settings or other variables that may affect the information given to the Internet Explorer? Have you tried using a different browser? Personally, I use a norwegian-developed browser called Opera, which has shown to be more stable than both IE and Netscape.

Next time the problem appears, try to take note of your network settings, and compare them to your usual settings. You might also be using a program that change these settings when activated.

Hope this helps you out, if not, drop me another mail.

Since your question is so old, you might as well just reload the latest versions of all software, and you'll have a new set of problems to deal with. Heck, update all your hardware and operating systems while you're at it. Have a real party.
