Explorer has caused an illegal error

By jimb ·
A friend Wrote To Me:
Each time I shut down now it tells me that
Explorer has caused an illegal error.
I was wondering if anyone could help in the solution. Would reloading the operating system work?

More info on the error message would help,so I will guess that you are refering to IE
Open the Control Panel,double-click the Add/Remove programs icon, find IE in the list, highlight and click the remove button, you should get a popup screen, select toinstall a previous version and then re-install the latest version of explorer, also try updating to the latest service pack.
