i have reciently come across a problem with explorer in windows XP.
the problem produces the following symptoms.
when a folder is double clicked or right clicked on the mouse cursor goes to hourglass waiting for up to 2 mins before the folder finaly opens.
this happens every time on every folder. the time it hangs for, increases if the folder has a lot of files, but still takes a minimum of 1 min to open.
the folders can be opened over the network by other pcs and they act as normal and open instantly.
i have tried the memory handling hot fix with no improvment.
but the strangest symtom of all is that if the pc is disconnected from the network the problem disapears.
there are no trojans or viruses on the pc and this problem has develpoed reciently. the pc was running fine for over 6 months.
