EXPLORER.EXE-APPLICATION ERROR

I REALLY WILL APPRECIATE HELP YOU WONDERFUL FOLKS!
WHENEVER I EXECUTE A SHUT DOWN COMMAND ON MY WIN 2000 PRO (SP4), I WILL RECEIVE THIS ERROR MESSAGE:

"THE INSTRUCTION AT "OX6C3B5115" REFERENCED MEMORY AT "OX00000004" THE MEMORY COULD NOT BE READ. CLICK OK TO TERMINATE PROGRAM."

PLS ASSIST ME WITH HOW I CAN RESOLVE THIS PICHING PROBLEM

Typing all in CAPS makes your message hard to read.

That error message is generally a driver or a program failing to release memory when shutting down.

Have you scanned the system for viri, worms and malware?

What hot fixes are on the box? There are several post SP4 fixes.

Are any applications runnign when the system is beign shut down?

Try this, hopefully it will help. It does sound like you have a program that does not want to shut down correctly as you are shutting down.
