I will be installing a new Windows 2000 server on a separate domain to the existing one on the network and am not sure how the IP address range will work. Our existing IP range is 1.0.0.1 - 1.0.0.250, the majority of which is being used. Will I needto extend the range for the new server and the computers connecting to it? If so, how do I go about this. Please could you point me in the right direction. Many thanks in advance.

Subnet your network, to get more subnets and more hosts. This is a large topic to cover in this short space. Go here for information: http://www.learntosubnet.com/
It depends on whether you will be migrating all the existing workstations and servers to the new domain, or will be adding a totally new group of workstations and servers to the new domain. If you're migrating the existing workstations and servers, simply give the new server a static IP address within the same range. TCP/IP doesn't care what domain you're in, only what IP address range. If you're adding a completely new set of workstations and servers, then you need to create a new subnet - i.e., 1.0.1.1 through 1.0.1.254. Make sure the subnet mask is appropriate - i.e., 255.255.255.0 and that you have a router in place so that the two subnets can communicate if required. You should read up a bit on TCP/IP before attempting this if youhave no knowledge of the subject. Hope this helps!
