Extending size of logical drives

by cydolf . Updated 17 years, 7 months ago

I have increased the size of the physical disks and need to increase the size of the logical drive.

I initially took out the secondary drive (was a 72 GB ultra 320 SCSI) and replaced it with a 146.8 GB Ultra 320 SCSI. This ia with hotswaps. The array configuration picked this up nicely and mirrored the primary to it.

I then powered of the server and removed the primary HDD, booted from the secondary and it worked first time. I now put in my second 146.8 GB SCSI HDD and it has been recognized.

However, there is now massive unused space. I am also given the option to extend size.

1. is it safe to extend the size of the logical drive while a live site is running on the server (hopefully yes, and there will be no downtime on this)?

2. would I need to reboot the system to boot from the primary, and then configure it?

Your help is much appreciated.
