External Drives Compatible with Vista 64 Bit

By rwaggoner4 ·
I have a Western Digital My Book World Edition 1TB external drive. Model #WD10000G032. I am told by WD that the drive's hardware is not compatible with Vista 64bit.

Does anyone know of external drives that are compatible with Vista 64?

Hardware incompatible?????

by 1bn0 In reply to External Drives Compatibl ...

It IS a network attached drive is it not?

The only issue I see any where is the "configuration software" is not Vista compatible. The WDC site lists the devices. both World Book and World Book II as Windows compatible.

Call back Western Digital and ask to talk to Second Level Support or anyone else who can actually answer your questions.

You might be misled here...

As far as i am a where all drives are compatible, it most probably is the back up software that comes with the drive that is not compatible. But otherwise i would just test it out and see. :)

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.

which drives work?

I found you can use those non-compatible drives by simple raiding it with a compatible drive, comp hd first, then add the non comp. I think its in the boot access, so you boot w/comp, then load the others. good luck
