External Hard Drive and Win XP

by jcombs . Updated 24 years, 1 month ago

I have a Valuestor Mobile Hard Disk Transformer that turns a standard IDE Hard Drive into an external hard drive that connects to the computer via a parallel port ( like a printer or scanner would).

I worked fine with Windows 95, and Win 98 SE.
I have now upgraded to Windows XP and even though I have installed the drivers from the disk, the computer doesn’t seem to recognize that the drive is connected.

I can’t seem to find updated drivers for this damn thing anywhere on the web, nor find the orginal manufacturer or a vendor.

SPECS:
PPort IDE HD Transformer
PN 10457-XX
Ser No. 583-009599
Manuf. by Valuestor, Inc. San Jose CA

I really need to make this thing work, I have no room in the computer case to install it directly and I use this 4 GB drive to transfer data between my Laptop and my desktop.
