External Harddisk Fault!!!

by virgoan . Updated 22 years, 8 months ago

My company has bought some external harddisks(from trekstore) recently to run DELL P4, OS Win2K pro.

This external harddisk is used for backup purpose, meaning saving/copying some important files over.

One of it was having problem. Initially it was running on a notebook and no problem to save files. But then when it was running on desktop to save files this message was popping up :

“Windows was unable to save all the data for file \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Lam\Audit\PT.xls. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.” OK button is the default button…

When checked on the drive, some files are copied over but not all!

I have tried it in another desktop (running on the same platform and processor)it has no problem to do the saving. If i used another drive to connect to that PC, the same message will be popping up. Wonder is this Win2k Pro bugs?

If any one know the solution please enlighten me. Thanks a zillion.
