External HD Corrupt or unreadable…

by deviant01 . Updated 16 years, 8 months ago

Ok Guys and Gals.. Heres the deal. My personal laptop fried its motherboard a few weeks back and I need to recover information from the secondary HD (no operating system installed) Ive purchased an external case and proptly recovered the info from the Primary HD (op sys installed) without any issues. When I try to access the secondary drive i get the following error…”G:/ is not accessable. The file or directory is corrupt or unreadable.” I have tried “Chkdsk g:/ but it will not read the disk it says..windows cannot access the disk. I was running Vista (go figure) on a HP dvx9000. At the time of the crash all Programs worked fine, I find it hard to believe the HD crashed at the same time but Ii guess anything is possable. Any one have some advice I can try to fix this? Thx for the help.
