external multimedia sound

i have the speakers. They worked until my friend fooled with the system. Now there's no sound and I can't access them. Help!

Check the obvious. Make sure they are plugged into the right place on your sound card. And make sure under you volume controls, you don't have any of them marked "mute." CD player, volume control, wave balance, etc.

A few possible answers:

1. Make sure that the sound card the speakers are plugged into is set as the default sound card for your computer.

2. Make sure the speakers aren't defective. Test them on a different computer, etc.

3. Reinstall the sound card software. My sound stopped working, and reinstalling the sound card hardware fixed it.
