External recipients cannot reply

There are feedback that external recipients encounter problem replying to the sender. The sender in this case is our internal users on MS Exchange email. The above-mentioned recipients are from different addresses and the problem is encountered randomly. Is there anything wrong on the SMTP settings on Exchange or the like, such that incoming mails are bounced back ? Appreciate guide on the fix on MS Exchange server. Thanks very much.

more info is needed.
first, what error messages are being bounced back to the ext users? if some mail is coming in and not others, then unless you have filters on exch not to let certain addresses in, all is fine on your end.
if the ext users are getting no user found or account unknown, etc, it is your exch. if the ext users are getting dns errors, or host not found, etc, then it could be either their dns or your dns.
i would definitely like to see some of the errors from the ext users before a definite answer can be given

If there are just a few users that are having replies bounced, you might check to see if they've made a mistake entering their reply-to address in the client. If the reply-to address is incorrect, Exchange might not be able to deliver it.

Check Control Panel/Services/Exchange Internet Mail Server and other Exchange services. If Internet Mail Server is up, try stopping and restarting it then do some email tests from an outside source.
