External Wireless & Internal Modems

I ordered my notebook without the wireless setup, yes, it wasn’t a bright thing to do. I bought an external wireless setup. Things seemed to go well until something happened to my internal modem. Now I use an external modem. My question is: Can an external wireless system be used with an external modem? Thank you, mjarnold.

Not quite sure on what you are asking. I will assume by external modem, you have a dial up modem connected to serial. Then you have an “external wireless setup”??? that you use for Wifi. Is this connected with a USB antenna??? If you are trying to get these two systems to work together, there is no real practical way or purpose for this. We need a little more info, and it may just be easier to explain what you are trying to accomplish and maybe we’ll have a better solution for you.

um, are we talkin’ ’bout bluetooth wireless? if so you can have them both if but only one at a time. follow the mfg’s instructions to train the laptop each bluetooth device
give model numbers of you modem and wireless ?

I guess I wasn’t very clear about how they each hook up, was I? The external modem hookas by USB port. The wireless plugs into a PC card slot. The USB is on the right side of my notebook & the PC slot is on the left side. There is no “Bluetooth” involved. I just need to know if, with this kind of wireless set up, do I need to have an enternal modem?
