Extract soundtrack from DVD Movie to MP3

By bob21 ·
My son-in-law wants to put a few of the sound tracks from his DVD's on the hard drive of his portable computer to listen to while travelling out of town. Obviously the whole video plus sound would take too much space. Is there some software or other technique comparable to ripping an audio disk to mp3?

All video capture programs that are worth a **** can be configured to capture audio only. There are many free programs out there for converting .avi or .wav files to mp3.

You can rip the DVD using DVD Decrypter, then encode the VOBs using something like FlaskMPEG or Dr Divx and the appropriate codec, then use Virtual Dub to extract the section of audio you want. is a very good place to download software and learn.
