Extracting a Date from an Excel Cell

By megantoto ·
I am trying to pull a series of numbers from a text cell that contains both letters and numbers. The date is always in the same place in the cell, and I want to extract it and format as a date.
ex. PRD113010-01 the date is 11/30/10.
Does anyone have a formula for this?

Using text in columns

by carpano53 In reply to Extracting a Date from an ...

Due to the date of the doubt I think you 'll have already solved the problem. My opinion is tou can use the "text in columns" feature. You can share PRD for the first column 113010 for the second and -01 for the third. As you have always the date in the same place ,when you select the column you always get the date in the second column. Then you can erase colums 1 &3 and format as you want column 2. I hope this will be useful for you
Best Regards
