Extremely Slow Loading Win 2000

By funky.chadi ·
It takes me about 5-6 mins to load win 2000 on my operating system. I'm not a techie and sorry for sounding a little dumb I guess it maybe a memory issue. My memory is 4 GB and physical memory is 65012k. Please help as its so frustrating listenig to the processor drone on and on!!
Many thanks.

64 MB is the MINIMUM for Win 2000--therefore your performance is the slowest possible for Win 2000. I suggest you upgrade to 128 MB at least. See this page for Win 2000 details:

Answer #1 is correct, but I think that the logical minimum for Win 2K is 256 MB - memory is (relatively) inexpensive, and you will see a big difference.

it seems to me that you prob have too many services runing at start up> go to control panel, admin tools, services, have a look in there and disable what you dont need, if you double click on any service running it will allow you to have a look at the dependencies for this,REMEMBER if your not entirely cvomfortable at changing things in there DONT disable anything, set it to (manual) and this service will only run as and when required!

a little tip is to note what changes ou make as you go.
do you have loads of software which runas a service at start up if you do then go into properties for them and change it.

hope this helps!
