Extremely Slow Loading Win 2000

It takes me about 5-6 mins to load win 2000 on my operating system. I’m not a techie and sorry for sounding a little dumb I guess it maybe a memory issue. My memory is 4 GB and physical memory is 65012k. Please help as its so frustrating listenig to the processor drone on and on!!
