Failed MS Updates/Remnants

Failed MS Updates/Remnants:
In the days of dialup "aakkkk", I had attempted numerous updates from micrsoft. Well i have an equal number of failures. Most irritating is the multitude of apparently unremovable EULA.txt files. "Access denied, file in use.". ALL 45 of them? How do I get rid of these files.

Boot into Safe Mode and try to delete. If they still don't delete, rename the file, then delete.

Re: failed updates. If you have XP, click Start--Run--type "Services.msc" (no quotes)--double-click Automatic Updates--click Stop (leave window open).

Navigate to C:\Windows, rename SoftwareDistribution to anything else, then restart the above Automatic Updates service and close all windows.

If the files still don't delete in Safe Mode after renaming them, boot to a DOS prompt and delete from there.
