Failed to open GPO
We have just finished reinstalling Windows 2000 Server/Small Business Server. When trying to set up a new user account for our backup program (Arcserve), I can create the account but when I tried to give advanced rights to the user via: Start/Programs/Administrative Tools/Domain Controller Security Policy I get an error message saying:
"Failed to open the Group Policy Object. You may not have appropriate rights." Details: The network name cannot be found.
I was logged in as the administrator when I tried to do this.
I have been to Microsoft's knowledge base, and have followed the instructions in article 294257 - "Failed to Open the Group Policy Object". In this article it says to use ADSIEdit.msc to identify the restricted policy, and that the restricted policy should have a notepad icon instead of a folder icon. When I navigate to the container using AESIEdit.msc, as described in the article, all objects have a folder icon, no entry with a notepad icon exists.
Before the OS was reinstalled, I had been able to do this without any problems. If anyone can help me with this I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks.
