Failure of Disk Cleanup and Drive Space

Both Disk Cleanup and Drive Space programs lock up my computer when they are executed from the systems tools menu. I have applied all the patches to Windows 98 that I know of, but these two programs still fail. I have tried copying drvspace.exe fromanother system with no success.
