You dont understand what is system restore.

by Espionage In reply to Failure to retrieve data ...

System Restore is a component of Microsoft's Windows Me and Windows XP operating systems that allows for the rolling back of system files, registry keys, installed programs, etc., to a previous state in the event of a failure.
Files stored on partitions not monitored by System Restore are never backed up or restored and items in the My Documents folders are always left untouched.

If I understand this correctly

You are attempting to recover a deleted folder right?

If he system is running and has been for more that 2 minutes it's probably to all intents and purposes gone forever to Silicon Heaven unless you are prepared to loose the drive in question and spend up wards of several hundred K to recover the data.

One of the Forensic Data Recovery houses will be able to dismantle the HDD remove the platters and coat them with some green goo and then after a period of time be able to read every layer of data that has ever been stored on that HDD. This should take about 1 month to complete and cost several hundred Thousand $ so my question here is the data that important?
