Did anyone else watch the premiere of this show last night? If so, what did you think?
I thought that it was really good, especially since it's a TV show. I liked the "skitters" and the "mechs", and the mystery of why 6-legged aliens would make giant bipedal robots. Hmm....
The aliens were cool, the cinemetography was good, except when they fell back to "shaky-camera" mode, and the action was awesome. I jumped when the alien jumped out of the shelving in the store.
Of course, Spielberg is one of the producers, so I'm sure they made sure to invest a lot of cash in the pilot.
So, thoughts?

Here's what grabbed me, of all the appeals-to-emotion they tried to throw at you in the premier (most of which frequently backfire in my case): Assumed biker-gang-chick "Maggie" put one round each through two rapists. Works for me.
Of course, we can't be sure what she would have done if she hadn't been given a clear opportunity. Then again, being fiction, this is entirely controlled by the writers, anyway.
Not the most science-fictiony part, but the whole thing seems more like mil-fic anyway.
I've pretty much given up on extended sagas. I'm no longer willing to make the commitment, even with DVR. I've also seen too many either cancelled or poorly resolved.
I usually watch Mythbusters, Meteorite Men, that type of thing. I usually don't invest much time in series, except for Big Bang Theory, but when I saw Noah Wyle was in it, and that Steven Spielberg had been working on this for a few years, I thought it was worth a shot.
Mythbusters: I used to watch it for Kari Byron. Vegan never looked so good...well, unless you saw Natalie Portman. lol
Meteorite Men: Watched it a few times. It's kinda neat, but gets old. 2 guys...1 mission: hunting space rocks. lol
Big Bang Theory: Never seen it.
Shows I watch semi-regularly: Top Gear -from the UK...I never tire of it...the best show I've seen in years
Deadliest Catch - Watched it since the first season...actually, since it was a documentary about the deadliest job on earth.
Ghost Hunters - Less now than I used to...used to watch Most Haunted, but that disappeared off The Travel Channel...and, I watch Ghost Adventures on occasion, but Zak is just too over-the-top
Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman - great show on The Science Channel...well, most any astronomical/physics show on the Science channel is great...like "Do You Know What Time It Is" with professor Brian Cox...another outstanding show.
Thirty minutes of pure geeky fun. I didn't start watching until season 3, but it's easy to immediately figure out the dynamic. Some episodes, I laugh so hard that my ribs hurt.
