False Prompt-Insert Diskette for Drive B

by kmarkus . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

Recently a Windows 98 started prompting “Please Insert a Diskette for Drive B” during a DOS application backup and at Shutdown. There is no B drive configured in the Bios or within Windows and the DOS program configuration is set to A (and has not been changed for years). Norton Antivirus found and corrected the kak.worm but detects no other virus. How do I fix this problem?
