False virus reported?

by helpdesk . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

One of our users has a very annoying issue whenever he opens Internet Explorer. As soon as it opens, he immediately gets the following virus warning (by InoculateIT):

“The ~!~ virus was detected in C:\Documents and Settings\’username’\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5\’folder’\mc[1].vbs.
Action: Move Failed.”

I have tried updating IE to 5.5 SP2, then to IE 6. I applied the latest updates, inc. SP2, to Windows 2000. I can clear out all his internet files, inc. the “mc[1].vbs” file mentioned above, but it just reappears. I even installed and ran “Ad-Aware”, which did find a few spyware components, which I cleaned out. I’ve run out of options, and can’t find anything on Microsoft’s or Computer Associates sites.Any suggestions??
