I have a subnet running Fast Ethernet Cisco switches, Cat 5s and 2900s etc. most of the ports are set to 10Mbps half duplex but i want to know whether it is feasible to up the port speed to 100 half duplex.
On the same subnet are a number of servers, file and print, sms, shares etc.
All machines have 10/100 cards while the servers have 100mbps cards.
I’m being told that if i up the speed to 100 then the server will not be able to cope – all servers are new (1yr old) compacs – is this true?
Opinions, views and any pointers to helpful documentation welcome.
