Fatal exception error. What does ot mean

I am a newly A+ certified technician and still hasa long way to go in trouble shooting.While using my computer at home, quite aften the blue screen comes up, telling me that “a fatal exception error has occured at 0028:C004B45E in VXD VFAT(01) + 00009486. The current application will be terminated”.

What does this error message mean and what could be causing it? How can I correct it?
