What does this blue screen mean?

Sounds like a hard drive error. I did find one site that indicates that Win98 is fixing clusters that 'don't stay fixed'. That could be true based on the later portions of your error (vxd vfat).

It may also be a problem with the antivirus program you are running (McAfee was named in this post). Try uninstalling the AV program and then reboot. If you don't get any error messages then change AV vendors and go on. if it persists, try installing a different har drive.

it means driver/software conflict.
if no joy disabling mcafee as suggested, i wonder:
you running any drive overlay programs (so a large drive can work on your system)

The computer is running AVG free antivirus version 7.0, I have tested the hard drive and it tests out ok.
It happened after I connected it to the clients monitor and it installed the default monitor driver.
After that I installed the correct monitor driver and hopefully it won't do it again.

Boot into safe mode and reinstall the correct video drivers, also when booting into safe mode use vga video to reinstall the drivers
