Fax on SBS results in event id 8218

When trying to receive faxes on a SBS 4.5 server using an external US Robotics modem model 005686-b3 it fails leaving event 8218 in the event viewer. I found an article on Technet that confirms it to be a problem with SBS. Has anyone found a workaround for it, or had the same problem?
