Fax Server or workstation server

By kashmeir63 ·
Hi,
I'm going to create a fax server with specfic software to run on it. The software for the fax server does not have to run on a server(as the o.s), it could run on a windows 2000 professional as the o.s. Is there any reason I should install server as the o.s. or would 2000 prof. be sufficient? Just looking for opinions..
Any help would be appreciated...

it's all dependant on how many users you will have that will utilize this software..

2000 Home has the abilty to have something like 10 people connect into a shared folder...

2000 pro, 20...

2k Server, unlimited - specified by system...

Those #'s are off the top of my head, but that's basically what the main differences in the OS are for shares.

So, if you only have a few workstations that will be utilizing it, 2K pro will be fine and save you a thousand dollars.
